Hazardous waste drop-off day scheduled in city

A household hazardous waste drop-off day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at the P.S. 99 Stanley M. Makowski Early Childhood Center, 1095 Jefferson Ave., Buffalo 14208.

Items that can be brought to the site for free and safe disposal include:

  • Pesticides, fertilizers, pool and household chemicals and cleaners (limit 2 gallons)
  • Oil-based paints, spray cans (limit 10 gallons)
  • Paint thinner, stripper and solvents (limit 2 gallons)
  • Batteries – lead acid and rechargeable but not alkaline
  • Oil, gasoline, kerosene and antifreeze (limit 10 gallons)
  • Mercury from thermometers, thermostats or metal
  • Propane tanks and cylinders, empty or full
  • Electronic waste including TVs, computers, printers, etc.

Tires can only be dropped off at 197 Broadway from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
