Burt W. Howell, who designed trade show exhibits for Fisher Price and other companies, died Saturday in Brooksville, Fla. He was 74.
Born in Buffalo, he grew up in East Aurora, graduated from Northwood School in Lake Placid and attended Brown University.
Mr. Howell was president and treasurer of Design for Industry, which created exhibits for trade shows and point-of-purchase displays. He then became a custom woodworker and was a designer and craftsman for Thinking Outside the Square, which designs visitor information areas, stores and museum exhibitions.
He retired in 2008 to Homosassa, Fla., where he was an avid golfer and took part in the National Suncoast Junior Golf Association.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Connie Reed; a son, Todd; a daughter, Abbey; and two brothers, Richard and David.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes, 8495 W. Grover Cleveland Blvd., Homosassa.
