Orchard Park dedicates new salt barn to late village mayor

It's not every day you dedicate a new salt barn, but Friday was the day for that in the Village of Orchard Park.

Ground was broken at 100 W. Highland Ave. for the new barn, which will be dedicated to the late Mayor John B. Wilson, who died unexpectedly in 2014. Wilson served as mayor from 2005 and had been a village trustee since 1999.

State Assemblyman Mickey Kearns, D-Buffalo, helped secure the $125,000 grant that will pay for the construction of the barn. Wilson's wife, Nancy, and their sons attended the groundbreaking.
