WIVB-TV (Channel 4) anchor Brittni Smallwood announced on "Wake Up!" this morning that she is leaving the station after five years.
Smallwood anchored the morning program temporarily for almost a year before the station decided late last month to hire Melanie Orlins as the co-anchor alongside Jordan Williams.
However, her decision to leave three weeks before she is due to give birth to a baby daughter, appeared to be amicable as she hugged Williams, meteorologist Mike Cejka and Orlins.

Williams said Smallwood decided to leave to spend more time with her husband and baby. He added she kept her departure secret from almost everyone until this morning.
However, the station had time to put together a flattering tribute of more than two minutes narrated by Williams that already is available on the station's website.
"She is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet and she'll be a fabulous mother," said Williams. "What you see on TV is the real deal."
