Financial Trust Federal Credit Union's Orchard Park branch is on the move – next door.
The credit union on Wednesday will hold a "soft opening" of its new branch at 6520 Webster Road, and close its current branch, at 3735 North Buffalo Road, said John Morrison, the CEO. A grand opening at the new location is scheduled for Sept. 15.
The credit union had wanted to acquire the Webster Road branch, which debuted as a Greater Buffalo Savings Bank location, when First Niagara bought Greater Buffalo Savings Bank 10 years ago, Morrison said. But First Niagara opted to keep operating a branch there.
The opportunity resurfaced when KeyBank bought First Niagara and closed the Orchard Park location in October 2016. Financial Trust FCU purchased the property, which includes a drive-through lane, in June for $525,000, according to county records.
Morrison said the credit union has not yet decided what to do with the North Buffalo Road branch it is vacating, but might put some administrative functions there.
The credit union has about $76 million in assets and 10,000 members.
