The Department of Transportation will hold a meeting Tuesday to inform the public about plans to shore up the Skyway's bridge deck – as well as the effect of the project on drivers who use the span to commute between the Southtowns and downtown Buffalo.
The meeting will be open format, allowing individuals to arrive at any time between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed traffic impact of the project. They'll be informed of the tentative schedule of the project, the duration of anticipated road closures and traffic detours. Officials will be on hand at the meeting to receive comments and answer questions.
Rehabilitation of the bridge deck will include replacing bridge joints and making minor steel repairs to make sure the bridge remains safe.
The state is scheduled to bid out the project in January. Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2018 and the project will be completed in the summer of 2020.
The meeting will be held in the Gateway Building, 3556 Lakeshore Blvd., Blasdell.
