A 24-year-old resident of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation in Genesee County is facing a slew of charges, including aggravated driving while intoxicated, following an accident early Sunday in the Town of Alabama, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office reported.
The incident took place on the reservation on Council House Road at about 2:30 a.m. The Sheriff's Office didn't provide details on the accident that led to the charges against Galen B. Sundown.
Sundown was charged after deputies conducted field sobriety tests. The charges include aggravated DWI, for a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 or higher; DWI; driving while using a cellphone; driving too quickly to safely navigate a curve in the roadway; making an unsafe lane change; driving to the left of pavement markings; and consuming alcohol while driving.
Sundown must return to Alabama Town Court on Oct. 24.
