A vandal used a steel sign to break into the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo between Thursday night and Friday morning, Buffalo Police reported.
Joshua Layton, the church administrator, told police that an unknown person smashed the window to an exterior church door with a steel sign taken from a parking lot. Once inside, the intruder damaged signs and pictures posted on the walls and bulletin boards of the church, according to the police report.
The contents of a fire extinguisher were discharged in one of the rooms on the first floor and craft items were scattered on the floor, the report stated.
The church is located at 695 Elmwood Ave. .
