Five adults, six children left homeless after Buffalo fire

An early morning fire to a West Side double has left 11 people homeless.

Buffalo firefighters were called to 245 14th St. shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday in response to a fire at a 2 ½ story, wood-frame dwelling with two apartment units, according to the Buffalo Fire Department. The double was occupied by five adults and six children. All were able to safely escape the building and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials estimate $100,000 in damage to the building, and $50,000 in damage to the contents.

The Red Cross is assisting the people driven from their homes.
