Jamestown motorcyclist strikes deer in road, suffers leg injury

A Jamestown motorcyclist struck a deer on Hanover Road in the Town of Hanover Friday night and suffered a serious leg injury, Chautauqua County Sheriff's officials said.

The motorcyclist was identified as Michael J. Freeman, 49.

Investigators say he struck the deer while northbound on the road shortly before 9 p.m.

He was flown by Star Flight to UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie, Pa. Authorities said his injuries were not considered life-threatening. No charges were pending.
