Man who sold $1,400 worth of cocaine takes plea deal

Larnell Briggs pleaded guilty Friday in connection with a pair of $700 drug sales to police informants two years ago in Niagara Falls.

Briggs, 24, of Jordan Gardens, accepted a plea bargain in which Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III agreed to sentence him to no more than a year in the County Jail. Briggs' sentencing for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance is scheduled for Oct. 20.

Assistant District Attorney Laura T. Bittner said Briggs will have to pay back the $1,400 police spent on the cocaine deals.

In each instance, Bittner said, Briggs promised his customer a half-ounce of cocaine, but the amount turned out to be about one-third of an ounce each time.
