Police in two suburban communities were seeking the public's help in identifying people sought in connection with two bank robberies Thursday.
Amherst Police are investigating a bank robbery at 3:40 p.m. in the Bank of America branch in Getzville Plaza, 2305 Millersport Highway.
The robber was described as a black man, slight in stature and in his early 20s, apparently dressed as a woman with long dark hair that was possibly a wig, according to Amherst Police.
The robber presented a note demanding money and then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, according to Amherst Police.
Depew Police are seeking the robber of the Northwest Savings Bank at 2070 George Urban Blvd. at 2:15 p.m., authorities said.
The thief was described as black, about 5-feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.
Depew Police had not yet made a determination Thursday as to whether the individual was a man or woman. Police said it may have been a man dressed as a woman.
The thief fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, according to authorities.
Amherst Police were aware of the person being sought in Depew and did not think it is the same individual they are seeking, though they have not ruled out that the two could have been working in tandem.
Amherst Police are asking those with information about the Bank of America robbery to call detectives at 689-1360. Anyone with information on the Northwest Savings Bank robbery can call the Depew Detective Bureau at 685-5793 ext. 6.
