Man shot in hand a block from ECMC

A man was shot in the hand Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of East Delavan Avenue and Carl Street, according to a Buffalo police report.

The victim told police he was walking down East Delavan just before 12:30 p.m. when he heard what sounded like gunshots and then realized he had been shot in the left hand, according to the report.

The victim, whose age was not included in the report, told police he did not see anything or anyone at the time he was shot. He went to Erie County Medical Center, which is about a block away, for treatment "on his own," the report said.
