Lowdown: Knoll Jr. is the son of 2002 FOAR Score Hall of Fame driver/inductee, the late Danny Knoll Sr. He currently competes on the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series but has raced in many divisions in the past. Knoll Jr. began his career a week before his 18th birthday driving a Junior Hanley built Limited Modified at Holland before moving following a wreck to a Hanley built Camaro body Limited Modified, also at Holland. He next progressed into the Super Stocks at Lancaster in 1983 after purchasing a car from Norm MacLeod. After a few seasons a switch was made in 1987 to the Modifieds at Lancaster after buying a car from Bill Bitterman. Knoll Jr. was the track's 1987 Modified Rookie of the Year. A switch to Holland's NASCAR Late Models was next in the offering in 1988. Knoll Jr. eventually left to join the traveling American-Canadian Tour (ACT) from 1990-92. After a little over two years, he rejoined the Lancaster Modified ranks. Knoll Jr. believes that in the mid-1990s he was the last driver to win a Lancaster Modified race without a car equipped with power steering. Knoll also competed on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2005 and 2010. He raced Sportsman last year at Lancaster.

Over the last few seasons, at one point or another Knoll's three kids, Danny Knoll III, Kristy Knoll and Katy Knoll have all raced Go-Karts and Micro Sprints. Danny III and Katy still compete. Katy is busy in women's hockey but will make her debut in the Sportsman stock car class at Lancaster this Saturday. Knoll Jr. is grateful to longtime crew members Jamie Anderson, David Chiodo and Brandon Oddo. Knoll III is the 2016 NY6A champion.

Accomplishments: Knoll Jr. has won races in every race division he has ever competed in and is a past Mr. Modified and US Open winner at Lancaster. He has finished second in points four different times in his long career including twice in the NASCAR Late Models at Holland and twice in the Modifieds at Lancaster.

Favorite Food: Chicken wings

Favorite Music: Classic rock, especially Styx

Hobbies: Knoll will be busy traveling this winter as Katy will be playing for the Toronto Aeros of the Provincial Woman's Hockey League.
