Driver who left Lockport crash scene charged with aggravated DWI

Charles R. Corwin, 42, of Niagara Falls (State Police)

A Niagara Falls man involved in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday in Lockport left the scene on foot and was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, according to State police.

Police said Charles R. Corwin, 42, lost control of his vehicle around a curve on Tonawanda Creek Road near Minnick Road. Troopers located him at a nearby home.

Corwin "performed poorly" on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. At the State Police's Lockport barracks, he registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, police said.

In addition to the aggravated DWI charge, Corwin was also ticketed for several traffic violations, according to police.

Police did not release the time the crash happened.
