University at Buffalo senior middle blocker Cassie Shado earned preseason honors, being named to the All-Mid-American Conference East Division team.
The honors were announced on Tuesday along with the league's preseason poll, which predicted a fourth-place finish for UB in the East Division.
Shado was named to the All-MAC First Team last season as she led the conference in hitting percentage. Her mark of .400 was only the second time in UB school history a player has hit for .400 in a season.
Shado was second on the team in kills (241) and blocks (90). She enters her senior season with a career hitting percentage of .327, which ranks fourth in school history.
As a team, the Bulls were picked fourth in the East Division behind Miami, Ohio, and Kent State while ranked ahead of Bowling Green and Akron.
Ball State was picked to win the West Division, followed by Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Toledo, Central Michigan, and Eastern Michigan.
The Bulls open their season on Friday when they host the Buffalo Invite. UB hosts Hampton at 10 a.m. on Friday, followed by Canisius at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. They wrap up action on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Central Arkansas.
