Severe thunderstorm warning for Buffalo area including Depew, Lancaster and Batavia until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Buffalo area including Depew, Lancaster and Batavia until 8 p.m.

Earlier, the service had canceled a tornado watch for Western New York.

The tornado watch had been issued for all of Western New York until 9 p.m.

The watch, issued by the National Weather Service, meant tornadoes were possible.

There were reports of heavy rains and downed trees across Western New York, including fallen trees on West Becker Road and Collins Center Zoar Road in Collins.

The watch had also covered the Finger Lakes, central and northern New York, northern Pennsylvania and part of Vermont.
