DOG MY CATS – “Eat a Dog, Save a Cat,” that’s the motto as Ten Lives Club, the cat rescue and adoption agency, holds its 14th annual hot dog fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at George’s Hot Dogs, 5808 Herman Hill Road at South Abbott Road, Orchard Park. Rain date is Thursday. Proceeds will help care from more than 250 cats and kittens.
There also will be theme baskets, buy-it-now items, crafts and cats and kittens available for adoption at the discounted fee of $25 for adults and $75 for kittens. For more information, call 646-5577.

HELPING HAND – The first session of a new season of “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” an educational series that provides tips and advice for family caregivers, begins at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Catholic Charities, 128 Wilson St. at Peckham Street, near Fillmore Avenue. The series of six sessions continues through Sept. 28.
Class size is limited. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $25 and is covered for members of Independent Health and BlueCross BlueShield. Those who register will receive “The Caregiver Helpbook,” created specially for the class.

PLENTY OF FUN – The Olean Outdoor Fest will offer activities on land and in the water Friday and Saturday in Bradner Stadium and on the Allegany River.
The festival kicks off from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday with the In Jest comedy show featuring Dan Viola and Nels Ross, plus music by Vapor and fireworks at 9 p.m. A Kids Zone will feature three large bounce houses and face painting.
On Saturday, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for be a 5K Color Race for bikers, runners, walkers and skaters, which starts at 10. A 6.75-mile dice run river regatta from Portville to Forness Park for kayakers, canoeists and tubers begins at 10:30.
There also will be an archery competition all afternoon, a chicken wing eating contest and wine tasting. The day concludes with music by the Darkwater Duo and a bonfire at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids 8 to 16. Children under 8 are free. Save $2 by purchasing advance tickets at the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, 301 N. Union St., Olean.
Proceeds benefit charities such as the Rehabilitation Center, Homecare Hospice and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For more information, visit
