Letter: Buffalo is sadly no longer ‘City of Good Neighbors’

Buffalo is sadly no longer ‘City of Good Neighbors’

Enough is enough, Buffalo! It’s time to consider changing the slogan “City of Good Neighbors” to something that reflects what the city is like now.

After moving away for 30-plus years and returning 10 years ago, I’ve made some impartial observations as to what this city is all about today. See if you agree.

Do “good neighbors” constantly build new housing catering to the upscale and totally forget about the poor and their needs? Shortchange the education of your children with a School Board that seems more occupied with infighting and figuring out how to use extra minutes in the school day? Really? How about using it to teach these kids! How about government constantly bickering and suing each other while wasting tax dollars to fund, ad nauseam, yet another “study.”

I could go on and on with more, but there is one fact that really grinds my gears lately. That is, do “good neighbors” run each other down with their cars and leave the person(s) injured or dead lying there and drive off with total disregard for their well-being? I know there’s some good in this city, but to me, the bad definitely outweighs the good!

Good luck with the slogan change.
