A pylon and one of the docks are gone from Hamburg's boat launch, thanks to Mother Nature.
It took a Hamburg Town crew a half hour to find the dock after it floated away, according to Highway Superintendent Tom Best Sr.
"It was down on the rocks, closer to Hoak's tavern down there than our Town Park," Best said. "I'm afraid it's beyond repair."
He said he has contracted with a company to hoist it from the rocks next to Route 5 at 10 a.m. Thursday.
"We will determine if it is any good, what parts we can salvage," he said.
In addition to looking at $10,000 to replace the pylon, he said he spent about $14,000 to have the area dredged three weeks ago.
"It's already filling in," he said.
