Attendance at this year's Erie County Fair was the second-highest in fair history, according to organizers.
The total attendance over the 12-day event at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg was 1,193,279, fair spokesman Marty Biniasz said. The 178th fair ended Sunday.
The record attendance came in 2014, when 1,220,101 people visited the fair.
This year's attendance marked a 21 percent increase from 2016. Fair organizers said the fair cannot be measured only in people, but also in vendors, exhibits and memories.
The 179th Erie County Fair is scheduled for Aug. 8-19, 2018.
