A boy and a woman were injured and one of the people behind the wheel was charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle accident Saturday in Mayville.
Chuatauqua County sheriff's deputies say the crash took place near the intersection of Chautauqua and Erie streets in the village at about 10:40 p.m.
The crash led to charges that Jacob S. Dehart of Erie, Pa., was traveling at high rate of speed when he stuck the other vehicle from behind. Deputies said both vehicles eventually left the roadway and struck a fence.
Dehart's vehicle was carrying three passengers and two of them were hurt. The injured include a boy flown by Star Flight to Women's & Children's Hospital in Buffalo. The boy is believed to have serious injuries.
A second passenger, a woman, was taken to WCA Hospital in Jamestown with non-life-threatening injuries. The third occupant was not injured.
Dehart, the driver, was later taken into custody and charged with aggravated DWI, reckless driving and other motor vehicle violations.
He was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.
