Music will be in the air – actually, on the porches – in this outdoor celebration of local music at the first Tonawanda City Porchfest from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
The "Porchfest family" started a decade ago in Ithaca with 20 bands and has grown to 185 performers and spread to 90 cities, including Buffalo's Elmwood Village Porchfest, which hosts 90 performers.
Tonawanda organizer Tara Kennedy said she wanted to bring a Porchfest to her hometown.
"We have such a great waterfront. We just wanted to enhance the experience," said Kennedy.
Nineteen bands will be performing and one visual artist. Those attending should bring their own chairs. A map showing the performance sites will be online.
