Orchard Park Town Board wants to meet with union outside negotiations

Some mission statements get put on the shelf after they are pronounced, but Orchard Park Town Board members want to follow up on the "Vision" section of their 2014 State of the Town address and meet with union presidents.

The only time the board usually meets with union members is during negotiations, Councilman Michael Sherry said.

"It wouldn’t be bad for the board to be cognizant or aware of the esprit de corps of our union employees. They may have some innovative ideas that they could share with the board," Sherry said.

Board members said in 2014 they want to support employees in their work, and this year's strategic plan said they want to foster a climate of respect, trust and appreciation in labor relations.
