A former Catholic school science teacher admitted in State Supreme Court to sending sexually explicit text messages to a 12-year-old earlier this summer.
Scott Schaefer, 44, of Getzville pleaded guilty to disseminating indecent material to minors in the second degree, a felony. Justice John L. Michalski allowed Schaefer to remain free on $50,000 bond and set sentencing for Nov. 17, when he faces a possible sentence of 21 months to 4 years in prison. The judge also ordered Schaefer not to have contact with any minors.
Schaefer admitted to sending explicit texts and photos to the girl between June 9-11. He was arrested June 13.
Schaefer also has been fired from his job at St. Gregory the Great School in Williamsville. The school teaches children in Kindergarten through eighth grade.
Chief Rosanne E. Johnson of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau prosecuted the case.
