Cheektowaga police have released images of the vehicle they believe struck and killed a pedestrian on Genesee Street on Aug. 8.
Police also released pictures of a small piece of a car part found at the scene.
Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the make and model of the vehicle from the images.
The vehicle involved will have front-end damage, according to police.
The small, black plastic part – about 3/4 of an inch long – may be some type of clip to a front grill assembly or some other front-end part, police said in a Facebook post.
Robert Prigl, 55, of Depew and Fort Myers, Fla., was struck in front of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport at 4:50 a.m. Aug. 8. He was on his way to the airport to catch a flight back to Florida.
Police ask anyone who can help identify the vehicle or the part to call the department's Accident Investigation Unit at 716-686-3580. Tips may also be texted anonymously to 847411. Those sending texts are asked to begin the message with CPDNY.
