A man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck early Wednesday in Niagara Falls, according to police.
Police went to the 400 block of Ninth Street at about 1:45 a.m. to investigate a report of multiple shots fired. Officers found no victim in the area.
Police learned a person, who was bleeding profusely, drove himself to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, city police Detective Capt. Kelly J. Rizzo said in an email.
The victim, whom police identified only as male, was transported to Erie County Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is expected to survive, Rizzo said.
The single stab wound hit the victim's carotid artery, police said.
