Lawmaker sells hot dogs to raise money for libraries

Erie County Legislator John J. Mills has raised more than$13,000 for the Concord Public Library with his hot dog roast fundraisers over the past 11 years.

This year's event in July brought in  $1,485. Mills presented the 2017 donation to Library Director Bridgette Heintz and Library Board Trustee Kara Kane.

"We raised $180 more this year than in 2016! It is the best day of the year and the community is always supportive,” Heintz said.

Mills holds the fundraisers at various libraries in his district over the summer, and over the years the events have raised about $70,000 for the libraries.
