Judith Grillo, of Cheektowaga, a licensed practical nurse, died Sunday in Sisters Hospital from complications following surgery. She was 74.
Born in Buffalo, the former Judith Ann Phillips graduated from Fosdick Masten High School in 1961 with certification as a licensed practical nurse. She worked as a nurse from the time she graduated until she retired in 2012. Since 1982, she had been affiliated with Lifetime Health.
A single mother for a number of years, she often worked two or three jobs to provide for her three children before she married Samuel J. Grillo in 1989.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Erik Abretske, two daughters, Victoria Abretske Lysenko and Beth Abretske White; a step-daughter, Nicole Brandt; a brother, Donald Phillips; a sister, Sharon Peters; 10 grandchildren and 13 grandchildren
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 in Lombardo Funeral Home, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.
