Canadian woman ticketed for leaving dog in hot vehicle

A Canadian woman has been charged with leaving her dog inside a hot vehicle in a Walmart parking lot in Niagara Falls, according to a police report.

An employee of the Military Road store called police Sunday afternoon after seeing the dog inside an SUV for more than a half hour with the vehicle's windows rolled all the way up, according to the report.

The dog's owners returned to the vehicle and an officer determined the temperature inside the SUV was 96 degrees. They tried to tell police they were only inside the store for 5 minutes, but the officer had been on scene with the unattended vehicle for 15 minutes, according to the report.

Victoria Agabalyan, 39, of Thornhill, Ont., was issued a ticket for a violation of state Agriculture & Markets Law for confinement of an animal in a vehicle, according to the police report.
