North Presbyterian Church in Amherst is hosting a workshop next month to help bolster the response to the opioid crisis gripping the community.
Organizers say participants will gain a greater understanding of how serious the problem of opiate addiction is in Erie County, learn to recognize the symptoms and signs of an overdose and get instruction in administering naloxone, among other subjects.
The free workshop takes place from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 10 in the church at 300 N. Forest Road, next to Forest Elementary School. Participants must be 16 or older and are encouraged to register at https://northchurchwilliamsville.org/2017/07/30/the-opioid-crisis-and-you/.
Workshop sponsors include the Buffalo Police Department, Erie County Department of Health, Horizon Health Services and Evergreen Health Services. Call North Church at 632-1330 with any questions.
