KOTA, Linda (Leverentz)

KOTA - Linda (nee Leverentz)
Of Orchard Park, NY died unexpectedly on Friday August 11, 2017 in her home. She was 31. Born in Hamburg, she attended Hamburg High School and enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 2006. Linda served two combat tours; Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was a Fixed - Wing Aircraft Airframe Mechanic and attained the rank of sergeant. She was nominated for Junior Enlisted Woman of the Year in 2010, received three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, one Meritorious Mast, and a Class Leader award. Later, Linda studied auto mechanics. Linda enjoyed watching and participating in sports. She played lacrosse and softball and didn't miss a Buffalo Sabres or Cleveland Indians game. She was a long-time volunteer at Operation Good Neighbor and was an amateur photographer. Survivors include her wife, Lana J. Kota of Orchard Park; her parents Richard and Ann Leverentz of Hamburg; brothers Jason (Michele) Leverentz and Richard Leverentz, Jr.; sisters Jennifer (Daniel) Hale, Anna Lubelski, and Amanda Leverentz (Jason Rinaldi), nieces and nephews Emily Hale, Trenton Leverentz, Eleanor Hale, Caleb Coates, Maive Leverentz, Christian Lubelski and Ethan Coates. She is also survived by many friends. Friends and family may call Tuesday, August 15 from 4-8PM at the NIGHTENGALE FUNERAL HOME, 1884 So. Park Ave. (near Tifft) in South Buffalo. A military funeral with full honors will be offered on Wednesday, August 16th at 10AM, also at the NIGHTENGALE FUNERAL HOME. Please share condolences at
