Driver forgets to turn on headlights, charged with DWI

A 36-year-old Buffalo man who was driving without his headlights on just before midnight Saturday was arrested for drunken driving after police stopped him and smelled alcohol on his breath.

Sisi Lubala of Niagara Street was pulled over at Vulcan Street after officers saw him driving down that street past Crowley without the vehicle's lights on. Lubala "became belligerent," prompting officers to take him out of his vehicle and put him in the patrol car instead, they reported.

Police also said Lubala had "a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage," his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his motor functions were impaired. Four empty beer bottles were found in the car and seized. When he was tested, he had a 0.16 percent blood-alcohol content.
