Georgia woman arrested en route to jail for visit

TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A woman from Georgia who was driving to the Niagara County Jail to visit an inmate ended up getting a free ride there from sheriff's deputies after she was spotted passing several vehicles on the shoulder of the road.

Deputies said they saw a vehicle passing a dump truck and several cars on the shoulder of the Lockport Bypass around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. After being pulled over, the driver explained that she was in a hurry to get to the jail so she would not be late for her visitation.

Deputies reported that both of Lynronica L. Johnson's driver's licenses – from Georgia and New York – were suspended for prior infractions.

Johnson, 33, was placed under arrest with unspecified charges and transported to the jail. It was not reported whether she was able to consummate her scheduled visit.
