Phoenix to headline The Edge's new music festival

It's the year of new music festivals in Buffalo, with Cobblestone Live and soon-to-debut Tailor Made joining standbys like Kiss the Summer Hello and Kerfuffle.

Add another intriguing newcomer to the mix, as 103.3 The Edge and After Dark Entertainment announced the birth of HRVST, slated for Oct. 14 outside the radio station's headquarters at 50 James E. Casey Drive. The new venue will be called Cumulus Festival Grounds, according to a spokesman from The Edge.

The music festival will also feature more than 10 food trucks and local vendors, plus beer from at least 20 local breweries - the Buffalo-Niagara region houses only 27 altogether, so that's most of the lot.

The station announced on-air Friday morning that Phoenix, a Grammy-award winning indie rock band from Versailles, France, would headline the first year of HRVST (which is Harvest without the vowels), with the remainder of the bill to be announced next week.

After winning Best Alternative Music Album at the 2010 Grammys for "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix," the four-piece most recently released "Ti Amo" in June.
