Penn Dixie is offering free solar eclipse viewing glasses to the public, thanks to NASA and SUNY Buffalo State.
The glasses allow a person to look through them directly at the sun, which allows individuals to safely view the Aug. 21 eclipse of the sun. The glasses look like the old-fashioned 3D glasses worn to see 3D movies.
Visitors can pick up a limited number of the free glasses at Penn Dixie during normal business hours.
Penn Dixie will host a viewing of the eclipse from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 21, and visitors will be able to view the eclipse through several telescopes, learn astronomy from the staff and volunteers, participate in hands-on science activities and collect fossils. Admission is $4 and includes the free solar viewing glasses.
