BIRTH OF A NATION – Revolutionary War Living History Weekend, the only Revolutionary War event in Erie County, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Hull Family Home and Farmstead, 5976 Genesee St. at Pavement Road, Lancaster.
Uniformed re-enactors will stage musket drills and a battle, and give 18th-century cooking and building demonstrations. Other re-enactors will portray pioneer settlers and war refugees, who will tell of their lives during tours of the historic house.
Adults and children can participate in an enlistment drill, grind corn, saw wood and make a wooden spoon. There also will be trading cards and special activities for children. Admission is $5, $2 for kids aged 8 to 14. Youngsters under 8 are free.

COOL COUPES – The Wendelville Fire Company will host its annual Car Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the fire hall, 7340 Campbell Blvd., Pendleton. Other attractions include a chowder sale, a basket raffle, and a food and beer tent.
Cars can be pre-registered for $12 at or for $15 on the day of the show. For more information, call chairman Ryan Whitmore at 799-3567.

REUNION TIME – Starpoint Central School will hold its seventh annual All-Inclusive Reunion from 11 a.m. to dusk Saturday in Pendleton Town Park, 6570 Campbell Blvd., Pendleton. An excursion to tour the school will leave the park at 11:45 a.m.
There is no admission charge. Alumni and families may bring their own food and beverages to share. Reid’s II Snack Bar will sell hamburgers, hot dogs and a variety of fried foods. The Crazy Cones Ice Cream truck will visit during the afternoon.
Organizers ask everyone to bring a back-to-school item to donate, including Crayola crayons, markers, scissors, erasers, No. 2 pencils and facial tissues. Pictures, memorabilia and yearbooks are welcome.

AMPLIFICATION – Russell Ward reminds us that the military Purple Heart medal is given not only to service men and women who have been wounded, but also to those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Our mention of special lighting tributes for Purple Heart Day on Monday said only that the honor is given to those who were wounded.
