A panel that will screen applicants for aid to major development projects in downtown Niagara Falls has been established.
The state-funded $3 million Niagara Falls Tourism Target Zone offers grants of $50,000 and up, but the grant can cover no more than 25 percent of a project's cost. The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board must approve all grants. Projects must be located within 2 miles of Seneca Niagara Casino, but not on Seneca Nation land.
The steering committee includes State Sen. Robert G. Ortt, R-North Tonawanda; Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello, R-Niagara Falls; Paul Brown, president of the Niagara County Buffalo Building and Construction Trades Council; county Economic Development Commissioner Samuel M. Ferraro; IDA Chairman Stephen F. Brady; and IDA members William L. Ross and Mark Onesi.
