Niagara County Community College, the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office signed an agreement Tuesday to improve responses to reports of sexual assaults on campus.
The agreement came in the wake of the forced resignation of President James P. Klyczek in April, in part because of his scornful response, caught on tape, to a reported sexual assault on the Sanborn campus last summer. One of the alleged victims is suing Klyczek and NCCC for defamation.
Existing training on sexual assault responses will be expanded. Also, the YWCA's Rape Crisis Program plans additional sessions with faculty, coaches, athletes and security personnel. The creation of an NCCC Sexual Assault Response Team is envisioned next year, said Mary Brennen-Taylor of the YWCA.
