Fire rips through South Buffalo home; emergency demolition planned

Emergency demolition has been requested following an early morning house fire in South Buffalo.

Firefighters found 2 1/2-story home at 58 Allegany St., fully involved after the blaze was reported at 3:39 a.m. Wednesday, the Buffalo Fire Department Alarm Office said.

Damage to the home, just north of Tifft Street, was estimated at $120,000, the Alarm Office said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Alarm Office said it did not have any information about whether anyone was home at the time of the fire, but several local television news crews reported from the scene that fire officials said the home was unoccupied.

The blaze caused $500 in damage to a neighboring property at 64 Allegany, the fire department said.
