Dunkirk hotelier buys Tonawanda Days Inn

One of the owners of a pair of Dunkirk hotels has added a Days Inn in Tonawanda to his holdings.

Pravin Patel, co-owner of the Best Western and Comfort Inn in Dunkirk, led an investor group that paid $3.025 million late last week to acquire the Days Inn Tonawanda/Buffalo at 1120 Niagara Falls Blvd., according to a deed filed with the Erie County Clerk's Office.

Patel and his partners purchased it from Hareshkumar Patel, who acted through Shivpriya Inc. of Austin, Texas. Days Inn is part of the Wyndham family of hotels.

Built in 1965, the 24,168-square-foot, two-story hotel has 51 rooms and is across from the Boulevard Mall.

Patel said the new owners have already started some exterior and cosmetic work on the hotel, including some remodeling, landscaping, and other changes "to my own satisfaction." He said the group wants to "bring it up to the modern expectations of the current travelers, both leisure as well as business."

The hotel will remain open during the renovations, which are expected to cost more than $100,000.

Besides the Dunkirk hotels and the Days Inn, Patel also has investment interests in seven other hotel properties in Amherst, Batavia, Buffalo and Hamburg, along with a group of partners.
