The Town of Tonawanda Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in advance of a plan to lower the speed limit adjacent to Glendale Elementary School on Glendale Drive and Millwood Drive.
If approved, the speed limit would be lowered to 20 miles per hour on school days, between 7 to 9 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. and speeding fines would be increased. New signs will be installed upon approval.
Town of Tonawanda Police Chief Jerome Ushold said the town has a project to control speed limits around all schools in the town, both public and private. He said there are more than 20 schools in the town.
Glendale Elementary is in the Sweet Home School District, but located in the Town of Tonawanda.
