MEOW MIX – Ten Lives Club, the cat rescue and adoption agency in Blasdell, will hold a grand opening ceremony for its new adoption location in Eastern Hills Mall in Clarence from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Ribbon-cutting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the space across from the Eastern Hills Cinema formerly occupied by the SPCA Serving Erie County. There will be light refreshments, adoption specials and a basket raffle. For more information and to volunteer, call the new site at 568-9322.

The Mentholatum Building

SNEAK PEEK – The Mentholatum Building, 1360 Niagara St. at West Delavan Avenue, is the next stop in Preservation Buffalo Niagara’s Hard Hat Tours at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Work by Ciminelli Real Estate is well along on converting the four-story factory into 51 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Completion is expected late this year.
Six first-floor apartments will have patios overlooking the Black Rock Canal and two of the apartments will feature woodwork from the old corporate offices. Commercial space is being prepared in the old loading dock area on the north end of the building.

TEE TIME – The Greater Niagara Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold its annual Scouter Citizens of the Year Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at the Lancaster Country Club, 6061 Broadway, Lancaster. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
