'Everybody Dance' to a night of '70s funk at KeyBank Center

Disco funk takes over Buffalo on Aug. 11 when the arrival of two iconic groups - Earth, Wind and Fire plus CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers.

Earth, Wind and Fire is best known for 1970’s hits like “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “That’s the Way of the World” (1975) and “Shining Star” (1975). The latter two songs were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

The band’s music is best characterized by its dynamic, energetic horn section and interplaying vocals that contrast between the late Maurice White's baritone and Philip Bailey's falsetto. For the concert, Bailey will be joined by Verdine White, Ralph Johnson and John Paris on vocals. Completing the group are Myron McKinley, Philip Bailey Jr., B. David Whitworth, Morris O’Connor and Serg Dimitrijevic. Playing in the horn section are Gary Bias on saxophone, Bobby Burns Jr. on trumpet and Reggie Young on trombone.

Co-headliners CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers brings such hits as “Everybody Dance,” “I Want Your Love” and “Good Times.”  The band known for writing songs with simple, catchy rhythms was founded by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards and originally played under the name CHIC, but started performing under the name CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers in 2013.
