YMCA counselor accused of sexual misconduct with 16-year-old camper

A 20-year-old camp counselor has been accused of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old camper.

Nicholas D. Maroney, of Perry, was charged with a misdemeanor after a state police investigation found he had sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl at YMCA Genesee/Camp Hough in Castile. The girl was a camper, Maroney a counselor.

The arrest comes after a July 29 investigation that determined Maroney had returned to the camp drunk and slept in the wrong cabin. He allegedly was seen getting out of the bed of a 7-year-old girl, but there was no report of sexual contact.

Maroney was arrested and arraigned at the Town of Perry Court.
