Main Street in Williamsville will be shut down to traffic from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, between Cayuga Road and Mill Street, for the fifth annual Picture Main Street Block Party.
The party starts at 6 p.m.
The village started the annual event in 2013, largely as a symbolic gesture in its crusade to take back Main Street from all the traffic. The state Department of Transportation announced last week a $4.2 million makeover of Main in the village will begin in the spring.
Saturday’s block party includes live music in front of Village Hall, food and drinks, pickup hockey games, a chalk contest and a big slide. An artist will be chalking the crosswalk where a pedestrian beacon known as a HAWK signal will be installed in the spring.
