Elizabeth Warren's challenger mixes up his Patriots in Gronk reference

The Patriots' Rob Gronkowski is many things: Western New York native, All-Pro tight end, Bills tormentor. But a campaign issue?

The Boston Globe reported that Geoff Diehl, a Republican candidate opposing U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts made a flub involving Gronk at his campaign kickoff. (Just to add to the scene, ex-Bill Fred Smerlas was reported to be there, too.)

White House press secretary just got Gronk'd

Diehl was recounting the Patriots’ Super Bowl comeback against the Falcons, in spite of a missed extra point by kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

That is where Diehl misspoke and the Gronk became the issue.

“Rob Gronkowski, I think he missed another field goal,”  Diehl said.

Diehl was ready with an explanation the next day, the Globe said:

“The place was packed last night, it felt like a Rob Gronkowski party, that’s all.”
