Charley H. Fisher III, the former at-large Council member competing in the County Legislature's District 2 Democratic primary, has qualified for the Sept. 12 ballot.
Objections against Fisher's petitions have been withdrawn and he will now face April Baskin, who ha thebacking of party leaders, along with Duncan Kirkwood, said Jeremy J. Zellner, Erie County's Democratic elections commissioner. They are competing for the seat held by Legislator Betty Jean Grant, who will not seek re-election as she runs for mayor in the same Sept. 12 primary election.
A third candidate, David Martinez, was ruled off the ballot for insufficient signatures on his designating petitions earlier this week. He is expected, however, to challenge the ruling in court.
