A young boy wearing only underwear and carrying a bottle was found wandering in a West Side neighborhood Friday morning by Buffalo police.
Officers conducted a door-to-door canvass of the neighborhood and at 9:50 a.m. located the child's mother.
The child's ability to speak English was described as limited, according to Northwest District police, who discovered the boy at the corner of Carolina Street and West Avenue. The officers soon began the search for his family and found the mother, police officials said.
An investigation is now underway to determine how the child was able to leave the house on his own unattended, the officials said.
