News delivery delayed; all customers to be credited

Delivery of Thursday's editions of The Buffalo News was seriously delayed due to a major computer failure with plate-making equipment.

Carriers delivered the paper throughout the day. All customers will be credited for Thursday's newspaper.

The subscriber paywall was taken down for the day Thursday to allow free digital access to Thursday's news, Gusto, sports and all other articles through BuffaloNews.com.

The problem also delayed the posting of today's e-edition.

In a measure of how connected things are in the digital age, an automatic antivirus update crashed the computers that produce printing plates for The News. It took until the predawn hours to rebuild the plate-making computers and start printing the newspaper. At least one other newspaper had the same problem.

A radio station's tweet that The News was hacked is false.
